Biography

Soprano Crystal Shellhammer is currently a teacher of voice at Indiana University of Pennsylvania Community Music School with an MA in Vocal Performance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  She has performed in several productions at IUP including, Mrs. Brayton in Lizzie Borden, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, Rona Lisa Peretti in …Spelling Bee, the 1st Lady in The Magic Flute, Clara in Signor Deluso, and more.  She spent the summer of 2015 in Rome and Orvieto, Italy covering the role of the Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro with the summer opera program Operafestival di Roma.  She has also performed in a variety of scenes in Opera Workshop including the roles of Die Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier, Marietta in Die Tote Stadt, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, Leonore in Fidelio, and Agathe in Der Freischütz.  Crystal has worked with countless teachers and coaches such as Dr. Mary Logan-Hastings, Richard Fracker, Nyela Basney, Edward Parks, Rebecca Cook-Carter, Harrison Grady, Andy Anderson, Jennifer Bird-Arvidsson, Sandra Moon, and Kevin Bylsma.  Aside from performing, Crystal has also worked behind the scenes during her time at IUP as Stage Manager of Sweeney Todd… and Figaro! Figaro! Figaro!, Wardrobe Head for Into the Woods, and was on the Lighting Crew for I and You, and She Kills Monsters.
